In October 2019, the PhD SSN launched its Health & Fitness section, dedicating two committee members to the organisation and planning of sporting activities. In just a little over a year, Loughborough Doctoral Researchers have taken part in:
- the University Social Sports League, playing weekly netball and football games with 3 SSN teams (mixed netball, women’s football and men’s football)
- weekly social runs on and outside campus (currently on Wednesdays, leaving from the Students’ Union at 18:30)
- two Pilates session taught by professional Pilates teacher Sandra Ostapova
- social walks to Quorn and Burleigh Woods
We’re currently looking at ways to have a wider range of activities, mainly online due to the current circumstances, such as yoga or HITT sessions. If you have any suggestions, or would like to host or lead a session, please contact us at Phd-network@lboro.ac.uk, we would love to hear about them!
