Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of nature as we come together to engage in coppicing and dead-hedging activities\, contributing to the preservation and enhancement of our local woodland.\n\nActivities:\nCoppicing- Learn and participate in the ancient woodland management technique of coppicing\, where certain trees are cut down to ground level to stimulate new growth. This sustainable practice helps maintain a healthy and diverse woodland ecosystem.\nDead-Hedging- Contribute to the creation of dead hedges\, a natural barrier made from cut branches and logs. Dead hedges provide essential habitat and protection for wildlife while acting as a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional fencing.\nWhat to Expect:\nRoll up your sleeves and actively contribute to the well-being of our local environment and don’t forget to dress warmly.\nAll necessary tools (including gloves) for coppicing and dead-hedging activities will be provided.\nTo ensure a smooth and organized event\, we kindly request that you register your interest (scan the QR code in the post\, last registration is on 3rd December\, 5pm). DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day trip to Cadbury world and Birmingham Sea Life centre. Learn about the famous chocolate brand whilst you explore their factory in Bournville\, outside Birmingham\, and visit the aquarium – the only one in the UK with sea otters (so cute!).\nWe’ll be catching a train around 9:15 Saturday morning so aim to meet at Loughborough mainline station for 9am.\nYou must purchase tickets to Cadbury World and the aquarium before coming\, by following the ticket link provided; these are £35 for both attractions\, saving £12 on purchasing tickets separately so it’s well worth the visits. Please book Cadbury world for 11:30 and the Sea Life centre for 15:00 (or the closest available time if those are booked up).\nAlso\, an off-peak train ticket to Bournville is required: these are around £17 with a railcard or £25 without one. We’ll be getting the 9:17 train from Loughborough and select the 17:50 return train although we’ll be picking up the 18:22 train from Birmingham New Street. Or you can make your own travel arrangements and meet us at these places at these times if you’ll be travelling by other means or only want to do one of the attractions (in which case only book a ticket for the attraction you want to visit).\nWe hope to see you there! These skills serve as a linchpin in the overarching mission to tackle disparities and mitigate the impending climate crisis.\nAndreas Stefanidis is an experienced social entrepreneur\, president of the Educational Association of Athens HFAISTOS\, the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Young Entrepreneurs\, and the co-founder and president of the Academy of Entrepreneurship\, a non- profit organization which aims to create a healthier entrepreneurial environment on a national and European level. Academy of Entrepreneurship is a member of the Euclid Network and founding partner of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN). Andreas is since 2014 the Accelerator Director of Aephoria.net host organisation of Bluegrowth accelerator of sustainable business ideas related to local sea and aquatic resources. He holds a degree in Business Administration with Major in Management Accounting and Minor in Economics from the State University of New York at New Paltz (1994)\, having graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. He has also been certified as a trainer of adult non-formal education and for designing and teaching online courses from Rutgers University. DESCRIPTION:A hike to Rothley along the countryside near the GCR mainline\, so steam trains will be visible passing through the countryside throughout the hike. We’ll stop for lunch around the Swithlands reservoir and catch a steam train back to Loughborough in the afternoon (the train fare will be £9).\nDetails of the hike to come but you should bring a packed lunch\, some snacks and plenty of water to drink\, as well as some layers as there may be a chilly wind and some suitable walking shoes (some paths may be muddy so trainers may not be ideal in some places)

In this role\, Ian leverages an extensive network to help companies comprehend the intricate mix of funding and connections crucial for success\, ensuring their stories resonate with customers\, grant providers\, and investors. Notable projects include spearheading Innovate UK Edge’s National Pitchfest Training\, serving on the Governance Board for Aspect\, and contributing as a Scale Up NED across diverse sectors. Prior to Anchored In\, Ian held the position of Head of Access to Funding & Finance at Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN)\, overseeing relationships with investors and contributing to the Estonian Research and Innovation system’s Peer Review. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the GCR’s autumn steam gala. There’ll be plenty of rides on steam trains on the only double track heritage railway in the UK\, celebrating 50 years of preservation as a heritage railway this year. There will also be some steam engines visiting from other railways\, as well as all the GCR’s operational steam engines out pulling passenger and freight trains. DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand – we’re heading up Beacon Hill after work to see the sunset and walking back through Outwoods after dark! \n Sunset is around 9pm\, so we’ll leave from the library at 7pm and walk up to Beacon Hill (~1.5hr walk).\n Bring water and snacks to enjoy while we chill and watch the sun setting\, and a torch for our walk back through the woods.\n It might be a bit muddy\, so be sure to bring suitable shoes.\n Feel free to take a taxi up/down Beacon Hill to skip the walking bits
