For the second time, we collaborated with the LSU Peer Support to organise a “Explore What a PhD is Like” event that was held on Monday 29th March 2021. The very first event was organised in March 2020.
The aim of the event was to give a snippet into Loughborough Doctoral Researchers’ lives for undergraduate and postgraduate students considering a PhD. The virtual event consisted of a panel with 3 incredible Doctoral Researchers: Priyanka Ghosh from the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering (Mechanical and Manufacturing), Percy Reyes from the School of Science (Computer Science) and our very own vice-chair Tasha Kitcher from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (Communication and Media). Emma Bates from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (Geography and Environment) offered to help and was a fantastic facilitator!
Emma asked the panellists questions about funding, visas, supervisor management, writing a thesis, publications, tips on work/life balance and what a standard day at work looked like to our panellists. The audience was then invited to ask their own questions.
